Kohina is playing Matt Gray's Vendetta.
Time sure flies. We go to sleep at night only to dream us away, waking
up ten years later. An echo from a past reminds us, and we are left
unsure if it is from a past dream. My old buddy Matt, with the obscure
for the uninformed handle "The Vengeance", has chosen a good time to
return to editing this magazine with the, again obscure, title
"Vandalism News". From what I have gathered such odd patterns are not
part of real life. Perhaps it all really is a lucid dream?
It is now a year ago I stayed a month at David's place in Launceston,
Tasmania. His lovely family made sure I felt at home, and me and Dave
had the possibility to cram quite a lot of data activities inbetween
his work hours and my clinic duties. We made sure to end 2007 with
dignity, arranging the Jazzmacx Tas Takeover. However that this issue
would be delayed with a full year was not according to the plan. I am
afraid that part of the blame has to be put on myself.
It is four years ago, at x04, that Matt handed me torch over to me in a
hotel in the citycentre of Amsterdam. He told me he needed a break from
editing Vandalism News and it all. He told me he would be back to issue
50, the Gold Edition. And when would be a better time to return but to
the aftermath of x08 showing off a prosperous c64 demo scene? Now
Matt's vacation is over, as we agreed upon, and the moment could not
have been more opportune for me. Longer and longer days awaits me at
the hospital. Medical studies are approaching their final years and on
top of that I often work night shifts at ICU in order to get the rent
paid. Lack of spare time kills motivation, and as I also want to be
able to spend time with my loved ones it all becomes a vicious circle.
Does this mean I will no longer edit Vandalism News? No, it will not. I
enjoy being part of the staff and I plan on putting effort into it
together with my Tasmanian partners in crime. However, with Matt back
in the boat things will ease down. With more brains set on editing and
delegating, this ship might even prove to come ashore more
often.
It is soon thirteen years ago I first wrote for Vandalism News. The
disk magazine that would prove to last. Serving quality c64 journalism
for the global community. With 2009 around the corner, the three tribal
leaders and the rest of the staff will continue this quest. Beyond this
Anniversary Edition more land is left to explore. The scene will prove
it and we will follow.
As already stated, time sure flies. Nevertheless, against all odds this
scene keeps on rocking. Vandalism News Gold is here, to cover, to
entertain and to motivate.
