Welcome to the 47th issue of Vandalism News. It is presented to you in mid-July 2006 and includes coverage of the contemporary scene. A scene of which the text is inspired and meant to inspire.

In early April issue 46 of Vandalism News was finally due after some half a year of delay. It was a huge three-sided magazine with, if I may say so, lots of good reading. I then told Jazzcat I wanted to release a thinner issue sooner, in order to get a Summer Heat edition out. Him being from a different hemisphere, having winter just now, I guess things are a bit different. For us northern hemispherians though, this is a light edition for summer relaxation. You may not be able to read it at the beach, at least not on the real machine, but when the scorching sun is unbearable you want to stay indoor anyways, listening to some nice sounds from that machine of goodies in the corner.

The fact that Jazzcat and the Vengeance has winter at the moment focuses on something that I guess not many of us consider often, with the one exception of when planning where to go on the holidays perhaps. I was born in June, and that is as I see it in the summer. But as the nature of the c64 scene being a global jumble, we have to reflect on its variations. The Onslaught posse for instance, are defined as pirates of the seven seas. The seasons differ, and here I am not necessarily referring to spices. One geezer in the staff is over in Ontario, Canada, where he moved to from Denmark in 1999. Another one who I met up with when I lived in London 2000 was born in and now again resides on one of the Canary Islands in the Atlantic ocean. Another island, though south of Australia, is Tasmania, and that is where where this magazine was born in 1991 and is where the mainhobo of todays diskmagazinemaking lives. Myself am about to move back to southern scandinavia, though this time not to the danish part of Sweden, to Malmo where I used to live and where some staffmembers reside, but to Denmark itself. I am leaving the main peninsula and am moving to the island of Funen, more exactly to the city of Odense. Of us mentioned most would prefer a light edition for summer relaxation and we can only hope that the people downunda can bare with it.

In this edition, which is dedicated to the recently deceased Edwin van Santen, we give you a chapter in remembrance of him. It is written by his close friend Falco Paul whom once founded 20th Century Composers together with Edwin. The issue comes, as you can hear, with tunes by the brilliant musician: An old favourite of mine, A Trip Into E-V-Space and also the earlier work Vlindertjes. Other chapters contains text by Wanderer, whom has written about the death of another scener, namely the legendary hungarian scener Mr.Wax who died in a car accident a couple of years ago. According to Wanderers investigation his death is a hoax. As Mr.Wax was a front figure in the release and modem scene for a long time, and I myself regarded him as a close scene friend, the chapter leaves no one untouched. Wanderers findings and conclusions does not necessarily reflect the ones of the Vandalism News staff. Enough about death for now though and let's continue with the introducing! Duke returns with the recent headline news and rumours and Ed has done some serious scrutinizing of the latest releases from the jungle. Also AGod and Zzap69 gives us some reviews in World of Demos. I am interviewing one of the new bright stars of the sid scene, Ne7, whom also has composed an exclusive tune, Night Time Excursions, for this issue. We thank Hein Design for supplying us with a sid with the season adapted name Flip Flop and also Maktone for giving us an exclusive tune. The new Onslaught member Enthusi gives us a report from Maximum Overdose 7 and so does Zed Yago, whom also has written about the italian demoparty Codex Alpe Adria. In this issue, Vandalism News 47, we introduce a new chapter aiming to award the creative artists on this machine. It has been written by myself and Jazzcat and the fitting name is The Awards. It might come with a few baby diseases, but hopefully it will be an appreciated chapter. All in all this issue is a bit lighter than the recent ones, but that was pretty much the idea. Do not forget to wear sunscreen.

The next time I am writing for Vandalism News I will have moved some 1300 kilometres. Though in a different country it is closer to where I am from and where I have many of my friends. It is also closer to many of the happenings in the current scene. I hope the University of Southern Denmark will be treating my medical studies as good as Umea University has. At least the climate will be better. Now enjoy the rest of the quality reading of this edition. Over to the father of this magazine, the Vengeance, and then to Jazzcat for some final words and for the full credits.
